Welcome
Drug abuse has become rampant in today’s society. Hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. are addicted. Maybe you’re one of them. If so, you’ve come to the right place for help. You’ve probably tried to stop using—more than once.
You probably weren’t successful at it.
You’re not alone,
and it’s not your fault. Kicking the habit is extremely
difficult. Very few people can quit without help. Because so many people
need that help to quit, the situation has become a crisis—an emergency.
That’s why this site is called Drug Rehab 911.
When you dial 911 on your phone, you expect help to show up, right away. By visiting this site, you can expect to get the help you need right away. This site explains everything about drug rehab and—maybe most important—how you can get into rehab fast. That part is easy. Call our counselors at (800) 344-9591.
Whether the help you’re looking for is for yourself, or for someone you care about, you still want to know the same things: what drug rehab is and how it works. Let’s start with what it is:
“Drug rehab” has become a slang term that describes both the place you go to get help with a drug problem, and the help you receive there. Rehab is short for rehabilitation, which the dictionary defines as:
“to restore to a condition of good health, or ability to work.”
That pretty much
says it all. When a person is abusing drugs, his or her health is adversely
affected, and the addict’s ability to work is usually impaired, as
well.
Once an addict enters a drug rehab program, he or she participates in one-on-one counseling, group therapy and family therapy. The addict also attends educational workshops to learn strategies for coping with drug cravings, preventing relapse, and reducing stress—all triggers that can lead to drug use.
Early in the rehab process, an addict may receive medication to undo some of the damage caused by drug abuse. These medications might make the process of withdrawal easier to deal with, or help the addict gradually cut down on a drug habit that’s been out of control for a very long time.
The objective of drug rehab is to give a person the tools they need to be able to face life without the desire to use drugs.
